A Official Statement from Facebook launched on Thursday, a free dating service in the United States, entitled “Facebook Dieting”, which was announced last year and made available in other countries.
Through this application, the company seeks to facilitate communication between more than two billion users of this social network around the world. “Facebook Dieting allows you to connect with friends on your friends lists and people who are not in your circle too,” wrote project leader Nathan Sharp on his blog.
The app includes several features, most notably the “Secret Like” feature that allows users to communicate if they secretly express their interest in each other.
“This application doesn’t work automatically unless you choose to use that feature and add each other to your list,” Sharp said. Users will be able to report anyone and prevent individuals from sending pictures, links or videos in messages.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in announcing the service last year that it was designed for “real long-term relationships, not just transit relationships.” He pointed out that one in three marriages in the United States begin on the Internet and that about 200 million users on the “Facebook” classify themselves as single.
