Students living in Phlogista on the outskirts of Uppsala in Sweden reduce their stress in an interesting way. They try to ease their anxiety by screaming every day at ten o’clock.
If you hear screams from a building at night somewhere else in the world, you may be crying but this is part of daily life in Uppsala.
Students at Uppsala University have been practicing the phlogista scrum since the 1970s, so students from the area are familiar with this routine. No one knows when the practice of alleviating stress started with screaming. It is believed that it began at another university, which was adopted by the students of Uppsala University. Voice magazine says the phlogista scam has been a tradition in the area since the 80’s, but then gradually collapses. Recently some students have revived it.
